Dear Members of the ASB Community:
I hope this message finds you well, staying safe, and enjoying the remaining weeks of your summer! It is hard to believe that we are already nearing the Labor Day holiday; however, it is just around the corner, and it’s time to anticipate all that is ahead for this fall.
As I shared in my message at the beginning of summer, ASB has experienced a high level of engagement with our online and virtual programming since we shifted to this format at the outset of the pandemic. Our participants have appreciated the convenience and ease of connecting with our programs and staff remotely, and we have also been able to support more people in this way. In fact, we experienced an increase in first-time participants over the last year of over 100% and an increase of nearly 20% in the number of total participants served during that same period.
Knowing this and also given the increase in COVID-19 cases since mid-summer, ASB will continue on as a remote-first, online provider of services, programming, and support, and our offices will remain closed through mid-October. Our current program schedule is on our website and runs through the end of September. You can find it here. In addition, we continue to closely monitor all public health directives and guidance and will be assessing our ability to reopen safely in the mid-fall timeframe.
When we do return to in-person programming, to ensure the safety of both participants and staff, we will require documented proof of vaccination for access to ASB’s facilities and prior to scheduling anyone for on-site or community-based training or activities. We do encourage all who are able to be vaccinated to do so fully (two shots for Pfizer and Moderna and one shot for Johnson &. Johnson) as it is simply the best way to protect ourselves and each other from serious illness. Please note that if you are not fully vaccinated, our online training and activities will continue to be available to you. This policy is about creating as safe a physical environment as possible while doing our part to help reduce potential transmission of the virus.
I will be back in touch next month to provide more information about our plans for reopening in the fall. As always, if you have any specific questions about ASB programs and activities, please reach out to Alexis Jones, Director of Participant Engagement and Outreach, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 267-483-9244.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and safe Labor Day holiday!
