At Associated Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, we work every day to help individuals build skills and gain access to the information, experiences and resources they need to live the lives they wish to lead. We are an agency for anyone, anywhere on the vision loss continuum and offer education, training, community-based enrichment opportunities and referrals to help them achieve their individual goals.


TOMORROW: Monthly Resource Sharing Call

On the first Friday of every month, participants are invited to join staff from
2 – 3:30 p.m. on ASB’s Monthly Resource Sharing Call. The call will discuss new programs, resources and special announcements. Participants are welcome to share any additional resources they have learned about with other participants.

 Fellow Positions for the Equitable Community Engagement Toolkit

The City of Philadelphia is hiring two fellows to assist in developing an Equitable Community Engagement Toolkit.

The PHL Service Design Studio and the Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service have been working on an Equitable Community Engagement Toolkit in collaboration with City engagement staff, community groups and Philadelphia residents. The Toolkit is an initiative that will transform how the City of Philadelphia thinks about, plans for and facilitates engagement with the communities it serves. 

The following fellowship positions are available. We encourage you to share this information with any of the participants you work with who may be interested in applying. Successful candidates should plan on starting in March and April of 2022. Each fellowship is full-time and eight months. The job descriptions with full details are listed below.

January: Health and Wellness Workshops

This January, the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging are offering two health and wellness workshops. These free six-week workshops will be offered virtually for adults 60 and older.

Keep it Moving Workshop

This six-week workshop is a Chronic Pain Self-Management Program where participants will learn tips and strategies to take charge of their chronic pain. Topics include managing pain, dealing with fatigue, working with health care providers, navigating physical activity, addressing poor sleep, problem solving and becoming more involved in everyday activities. All participants will be mailed a Self-Management Toolkit at no cost.

Schedule: Every Tuesday from January 11 to February 15, 2022

Help Yourself to Health
