On the Air ... with Ed & Marge Harvey!

Ed & Marge Harvey at the RICB studio at ASB.
Ed Harvey was a broadcast pioneer on WCAU talk radio in Philadelphia in the 50s, 60s and 70s, hosting a radio show called "The Talk of Philadelphia." He was the first radio host in the area to take callers on the air who were actually heard by the listeners. Previously, the host would have to repeat what was said because listeners couldn't hear the caller's voice.

A member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, he has interviewed dignitaries and celebrities, such as Bob Hope, Jayne Mansfield, Jimmy Hoffa, President Eisenhower and Malcolm X.
Ed Harvey interviews former president, Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1957.

And Marge Harvey (nee Wieting) was one of the first female disc jockeys in the United States. During the 1950s, she hosted a late-night radio show on WFIL called "The Street of Dreams." She later hosted a radio show on WCAU with Ed in the 70s and then went on to host her own weekend program at WPEN in the 1980s.

Ed and Marge are now ASB volunteers, lending their on-air talents to our radio station in the form of a twice-monthly radio show, focusing on a wide-range of interesting, informative and entertaining subjects. Each broadcast features a new 'mystery guest' in the form of one of Ed's archived interviews.
