The Gilles Estate Fund

The Gilles Estate Fund has been established from a bequest given to Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired through the estate of Rosalie Gilles. These funds are to be used to help provide adaptive devices for individuals who are deaf-blind.

Through this program, ASB is able to grant limited funding in order to help individuals who are deaf-blind fulfill their specific personal needs. The purpose of the Gilles Estate Fund is to provide a better quality of life for individuals who are deaf-blind, through the use of adaptive technology.

If you are an individual who is deaf-blind, the Gilles Estate program may be the perfect opportunity to help you achieve your goals.

There are many adaptive aids available for individuals who are deaf-blind. Mobility canes, amplifiers, hearing aids, specialized smoke detectors, braille note takers, writing aids and guides, as well as talking and vibrating watches are just a few of the many adaptive aids available to help assist you in your day-to-day activities.

Some of these items can be costly, and let's face it, sometimes we all need a little help. If there is a product you would like to obtain in order to provide you with a better quality of life, then simply call (215) 627-0600, extension 3297, for an application, and apply for financial assistance in order to purchase the product you've been waiting to have. Various adaptive devices such as those pictured to the right are readily available.

A committee that meets on a regular basis reviews each request. The Gilles Estate committee does its best to determine those most in need of assistance. Though we would like to help everyone, our funds are limited; therefore, we must be selective when granting requests.

A notification letter will be sent to you to let you know if your request has been approved, denied or to let you know if more information is needed. You will then receive instructions on how to obtain the item requested.

If you would like further information about the Gilles Estate Fund or about the many quality programs and services provided by Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired, please call us at (215) 627-0600, extension 3297, or visit our website at www.asb.org.
