Greetings from Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired's (ASB)Online Bookstore!
If you manage a newsletter or website, please feel free to include the information below for your readers. If you or someone you know would like to be added to ASB's Online Bookstoremailing list, click here.
We’ve made some changes to ASB’s Online Bookstore over the past year so if you haven’t stopped by in awhile, take a moment and browse around. ASB’s Online Bookstoreencourages Braille literacy and helps keep the joy of reading alive for individuals who are blind and provides shoppers access to over 800 books provided in braille and DAISY digital format.
Please read on to learn about what's new and exciting for this quarter.
Additional Services!
Don’t forget, ASB’s Online Bookstore has added two custom services to ensure you get the quality products you want and need.
On Demand Custom Embossing
ASB can now produce print and braille simultaneously. This is ideal for materials that must be shared with both blind and sighted individuals. We are even able to provide print/braille stickers and labels for your kitchen and CD cabinets! Let us know your needs and we will try to customize your request.
To have a product embossed, please contact Scott Schneider at sschneider@asb.org.
Custom Audio
The Custom Audio Department provides traditional recording services to individuals and businesses alike both locally and nationally upon request. Anything we can put a voice to can be recorded. Examples include: print copies of transportation schedule and route changes are recorded for SEPTA consumers, manuals and policy materials are documented for various business purposes and individuals may have books, periodicals or scholastic media recorded at their discretion as well as bank statements, utility bills, menus, etc.
To have a project recorded, please contact Linda Gaffney at lgaffney@asb.org.
February’s Fantastic Deals!
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, enamor your sweetie with poems from the great writers in history. In the 100 Best Love Poems of All Times, the collection contains verses of romance, passion, and reminiscence from the early classical period to the present including Shakespeare's "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?" and works by Rumi, Sylvia Plath, and John Donne.
Or try Sonnets from the Portuguese: A Celebration of Loveby Elizabeth Barrett Browning. These forty-four sonnets by the Victorian author were probably written mostly during her courtship with Robert Browning. They represent one of the most famous sonnet sequences executed in English and include the well-known "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways."
Let’s salute History this February. In honor of President’s Day and Black History Month, why not check out The United States Constitution written by our founding fathers; The Flag, the Poet, and the Song: The Story of the Star-Spangled Bannerby Irvin Molotsky;or The Underground Railroad in Pennsylvania written by Lawerence Block.
**Don’t forget ASB can also custom braille books as well! If you would like to have a specific book brailled, please contact Scott Schneider at sschneider@asb.org.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. From everyone at ASB, thank you for your continued support!
Warm regards,
