ASB Staff
Patricia C. Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired. Ms. Johnson has the educational background, the professional experience, and the administrative skills vital to leading ASB. As Chief Executive Officer and President, Ms. Johnson has primary responsibility for structuring, implementing, and evaluating ASB programs; hiring, overseeing, and evaluating program staff; ensuring that ASB's finances are stable and strong; and serving as a liaison to the Board of Trustees, funders, clients, and the community at large. Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired has a total of 55 employees, over one-third of whom are blind or visually impaired-and includes 3 program directors and a talented assortment of trained professional staff. All programs are assisted through the support of 200 committed, well-trained volunteers. These selfless individuals - many of whom have participated in ASB programs for decades - record works on tape, participate in ASB radio broadcasts, proofread Braille publications, provide escort services to clients, participate in support groups, and undertake many other tasks which are critical to our clients. Leadership of Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired is provided by a Board of Trustees, consisting of 31 community members, all of whom serve on the Board in a volunteer capacity. The Trustees have primary responsibility for governance of the organization, determining its long-term goals, ensuring fiscal stability, securing contributions - particularly from major individual donors - and serving as advocates for Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired, its programs, and its clients.
